Well, I'm very glad to know that you have not embarked upon a new, villainous journey for yourself. I would feel obliged to stop you...or something to that effect.
Have you had a chance to inspect one yourself? Thus far I've been destroying them when I find them.
So far I've been able to look into a few models and taken out the main component that was added onto my system, however I'm still trying to understand how it works. It uses the heating system to accelerate the bread baking, but I suspect there's a more magical component to it.
Here, I'll send you the notes we've managed to come up with.
I will say, they know what they are doing. They are shipping this modified model with standard ovens, making even normal random checks hard to detect them. There's also a high likelihood they have also done something similar to various cookware and ingredients to make people succumb to the "bread curse."
And controlling the entire delivery process is impractical of course. Send me what you have. All I need is but a single glimpse of the culprits and they will never escape my eye.
A man with a little too much investment in understanding how the bread was spreading recruited my help and I spent several hours flying across the island collecting samples.
No. At the time, I could glean nothing of note. The culprit was long gone and the oven itself buried beneath the fruits of its own production. 'Twas only later that I realised the source and thought to contact you.
That man, Sherlock, ought to be credited with realising that the propagating bread had an epicentre. Too late to save the island itself, alas.
[He can't help but laugh upon reading the message.]
Ah, I wondered if it was Sherlock you were with. My suspicions were correct.
But it was the epicentre? Suppose it makes some sense, that area did seem suspicious. Unfortunate of what it's become, but perhaps having these clues will help prevent it happening again--or make solving it faster should it do so.
Thank you for the information and warning, Emet-Selch.

Mayhap you should add a tracking beacon to any new oven you produce until we find the culprit. That way we may see who purchases it initually.

In the meantime, I do have some potential leads if you wish to look into.

[ Sigh. Why are good deeds so exhausting? ]

[Because that's just how it is.]

So how did you stumble upon this mess?

[ It was EXHAUSTING, Cid. ]

That's quite the endeavor. Did you find anything that would bring us closer to an answer?
[He might have smiled a little in amusement as he can easily imagine Emet-Selch's face for that.]
